United We Reach (UWR) is a non-profit organization that is revolutionizing the education sector of Pakistan with its proprietary technology. UWR is committed to expanding educational opportunities for children in socioeconomically stressed demographics & facilitating access to quality education. We provide scholarships and financial aid to children of humanity to drive development and sustainability in the underprivileged demographics across the globe.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to partner with existing educational institutions in Pakistan to provide educational opportunities to children in unserved and underserved communities. With focus on equity literacy, accountability and auditability, we have developed a technology that can train anybody with basic English fluency to become a competent teacher of customized curriculum.

Sabahat Sherwani

Chairperson

Sabahat Sherwani started her career as a consultant and coordinator for USAID and Arthur D. Little. She subsequently joined an international Islamic banking group and spent the next few years focusing on Sharia compliant Investment Banking. Upon coming to the US in 1995, she founded a successful textile-trading house in Oregon. She later moved to California, and re-focused her energies on her core expertise in the Finance industry. She was a consultant to reputable Middle-Eastern financial institutions and Pakistani Islamic banks. In addition, she has an avid interest in history, politics and philosophy and is a consummate reader and enthused analyst. She delivers talks about education, South-Asian affairs and history and philosophical discourse therein at various universities and forums. She also serves on the President’s Council of United Religions Initiative (URI).

Ashar Aziz

Sr. Vice Chairman

Ashar Aziz is the Sr. Vice Chairman of UWR. Before becoming an instrumental part of the UWR team, he founded FireEye in 2004. Currently he serves as the Vice Chairman of the Board, Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Technology Officer. He is also the original inventor of the core set of technologies behind FireEye's ground-breaking Malware Protection Systems. To-date he has received over 26 patents in the areas of networking, cryptography, network security and data center virtualization.

Dr. Naveed Sherwani

Vice Chairman

Dr. Naveed Sherwani is the Vice Chairman at UWR. He’s practically spearheaded all organizational operations of the foundation locally. With over 35 years of experience in entrepreneurship, technical engineering and general management in the Silicon Valley, Dr. Sherwani is a man of many talents. He founded his first company when he was only 18 years old. Since then he's founded & co-founded many more including PeerNova, Open-Silicon and Intel Microelectronics to name a few.

Dr. Saeeda Baig

Chief Secretary

Professor Dr. Saeeda Baig is the Head of Department of Biochemistry at Ziauddin College of Medicine, Karachi. She’s been associated with teaching in the medical college for 16 years. Her overall research experience is 25 years with 63 national and international research publications to her credit. She’s also been working as an editor for the past 19 years for Journal of College of Physicians and Surgeons and 5 years for Pakistan Journal Medicine & Dentistry. For the past 10 years, she’s been working with the Karachi Welfare Organization.

Dr. Syed Riffat Hussain

General Secretary

Dr. Syed Riffat Hussain is the General Secretary of UWR. A celebrated television & radio personality, Riffat served as a professor at the Quaid-e-Azam University for over 36 years. He specializes in defense & strategic studies, international relations, foreign policy, political science and international security. He holds a PhD in International Studies from University of Denver, Colorado. His keen take on international relations and foreign policy has been featured in renowned national and international publications.

Rashid Sherwani

Finance Secretary

Rashid Sherwani is Finance Secretary at UWR and chairs the organisation's Technology Advisory Board. He has over 35 years of experience in information technology, engineering, management and entrepreneurship. After his first venture at the age of 18, Rashid has founded several technology based companies. Currently he is partner at the leading telematics and fleet management company in Pakistan, Tracking World, which under his technical leadership, has successfully introduced several world class telematics solutions in the industry.

Huma Maqsood

Secretary Public Relations

Huma Maqsood serves as the Secretary Public Relations at UWR and is the brains behind the entire PR and media relations strategy of the foundation. As a singularly talented individual, she's been masterfully managing several projects side by side. Currently, she serves as the Director at both Franklin Covey Pakistan as well as Ignite. She’s also been the Managing Partner at IRIS Communications for over 16 years.

Ashar Aziz

Ashar founded FireEye in 2004, and has since served in various roles within the company, including Chief Executive Officer, Vice Chairman of the Board, Chief Technology Officer, and Chief Strategy Officer. Before founding FireEye, Ashar founded Terraspring, Inc., a data center automation and virtualization company acquired by Sun Microsystems, Inc., in November 2002. He served as Chief Technology Officer of its N1 program until October 2003. Before Terraspring, Inc., He was an engineer for Sun Microsystems, where for 12 years he worked on networking and network security. Ashar holds a B.S. in electrical engineering and computer science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.S. in computer science from the University of California, Berkeley, where he received the U.C. Regents Fellowship.

Shiva Natarajan

Shiva Natarajan

Shiva has a long history with both CFO and Controller experience that excels at critical problem solving, bottom line results and ability to break down complex issues and derive simplistic solutions. He currently serves as Vice President and Chief accounting officer at Fluidigm Corp. Prior to this assignment, he served as Vice President, Corporate Controller, Interim CFO of AMCC, for eight years. In the past he has held various assignments of increasing responsibility at Open-Silicon, Silicon Image, Ernst & Young, and PwC. Shiva has a B.S. from the University of Calcutta.

Abbas Moloo

Abbas Moloo

Abbas Moloo is a financial professional, specializing in providing retirement plans and services. His specialty includes 401(k), 403(b), 457 plans and IRAs. He is a Certified Retirement Plan Specialist (CRPS) and works at Mutual of America. He received his Bachelors degree in Risk Management and Insurance at the Temple University, Philadelphia, PA. Mr. Moloo also has a passion for making a difference in the lives of the less fortunate. He is the founder of Help Aid Africa, a nonprofit charitable organization which provides opportunities, affordable and available healthcare, and humanitarian services to those in need in East Africa.

Steve Hayden

Steve Hayden is a well renowned educator, who has a long and distinguish career in education. He has served as head of Almaden County Schools for 11 years. Steve started his career as a law clerk in 4th District Court in Utah County. He has B.A., English and J.D., Law both from Young Brigham University.

Mrs. Hunter has a long and distinguish career in education. Mrs. Hunter recognized over three decades ago that the most effective teachers target instruction according to the developmental needs of their students — that the ideal instructional model would deepen learning, rather than simply try to accelerate it using rote memorization and extrinsic rewards. Mrs. Nan Hunter, established Almaden Country School in 1982 to provide a student-centered, whole-child educational program where teachers designed lessons based on the needs, interests and talents of the children, rather than expecting every child to learn from the same curriculum.

Muhammad Tahir Javed originally established his reputation as the founder and president of Starco Impex Inc. a wholesale & distribution company and one of the biggest suppliers of FMCG to convenience stores and later explored in different ventures. Till date Muhammad Tahir Javed owns around 27 companies, 35 brands and the numbers just keeps growing every year.

Asif Sana

Asif Sana

Asif R Sana is a Private Equity Advisor, investor, entrepreneur, senior banker and a philanthropist. Currently, he is also an independent member of the Board of Directors of Askari Bank, Chairman of the Bank’s Board Audit committee and member of Board Risk management committee.

He was part of the core team managing the former Union Bank of Pakistan as the second-in-command Senior Executive Vice President and elected executive director of the board of directors. In 1988 he was headhunted by Philip Morris (PM), then the largest consumer products company in the word. In 1991, based at the international headquarters in Switzerland, he was appointed to the coveted position of Group Brand Manager of world’s legendary and PM’s flagship brand Marlboro that had annual worldwide sales revenue of $26 billion at that time. Subsequently he was promoted to a leadership role as the Head of Middle East Arabian Gulf countries.

He holds an MBA from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad and got his executive training at Institute of Management Development in Lausanne, Switzerland and INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France.
